One of the priorities of the Bolivarian revolution has been to make quality public transport accessible to the majority of Venezuela's population. Here a just a few of the latest state investments in dignified public transport in Venezuela.
Merida, capital city of the province of Merida (population 843,880) has been offering fare-free trolley bus services for six years.
Merida's
trolley bus network is free public transport service for
Meridanians. The first stage of the network was completed in 2007, and
the second stage started in 2012.
The buses run between the city of Merida and the nearby city of Ejido (pop 83,000 in 2001).

A similar trolley bus network is also under construction in the city of Barquisimeto (pop 1,995,770), Lara state. (El Impulso)
